Bibida sina Sparkle stars Khalil Ramos at Ashley Ortega sa pelikulang pinamagatang As If It's True, na isa sa mga official entry ng Cinemalaya Film Festival ngayong taon.

Sa naganap na media conference para sa nalalapit na pelikula, ikinuwento nina Khalil at Ashley ang mga bago nilang experiences sa paggawa ng As If It's True.

Ayon sa dating Hearts On Ice star, naranasan niyang hindi sundan ang mga nakalagay sa kanyang script bilang ito ang sinabi ng direktor ng pelikula na si John Rogers.

“Siguro doing a scene na Direk [John Rogers] told me na, 'Huwag mong sundan 'yung lahat ng script.' My dialogue is really long. So inaral ko talaga siya and then noong nagte-tape na sabi niya, 'Wag mo nang sabihin 'yung mga lines mo, just do your own thing as your character.'

“That's something new to me because I would always memorize my script pero I also appreciated it kasi mas na-challenge ako as an actor to make it look natural and to be in character,” pagbabahagi ni Ashley.

Nanibago naman si Ashley sa paggawa ng intimate scenes sa As If It's True at first time din niyang makatrabaho ang isang batang direktor.

Aniya, “Sa lahat ng mga nagawa kong projects sa GMA and in my showbiz career, siguro 'yung mga intimate scenes talagang dito ako nanibago, but at the same time, I'm so proud of myself na nagawa ko siya.

“Working with Direk (John Rogers) also is new to me. Direk is 25 years old, one year older than me lang so parang magba-barkada lang kami lahat.”

Ayon naman kay Khalil, ang As if It's True ay ang ikalawang pelikula niya sa Cinemalaya ngunit ito ang first time na gaganap siya sa isang lead role. Bago rin para sa actor-singer ang makatrabaho ang isang direktor na mas bata sa kanya.

Kuwento niya, “This is my second film na kasama ako sa Cinemalaya but this is the first lead. So this for me is new, alongside working with a younger director, [who's] younger than me. Bago rin 'yon.

“I've been doing films for quite sometime pero it's always new every time. It's not always the same experience, especially this material is very different also from what I've done in the past.

"It was refreshing to take on a lead role for the first time in Cinemalaya and to work with a younger director. It was a refreshing experience and it's my first film after the pandemic, which I'm very happy about.”

Gaganapin ang Cinemalaya 2023 simula August 4 hanggang August 13 sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) sa Pasay City. Inaasahang ipalalabas din ang competing films sa Cultural Center of the Philippines's Black Box Theater, TriNoMa, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, at Glorietta cinemas.
